SGN-35

Today Marcel finally seen his oncologist. (they canceled the one he was supposed to have on monday).
i dont have much news to offer because i'm not sure i completely understand enough.
what i do know is ....that the best option he has is to be part of a clinical trial.
SGN-35 is the name of the drug they want to give him.  it hasnt been approved by the FDA yet. but its showing promising results. Dr.Advani said that 40% of people in Marcels situation respond to this drug.

before marcel had his most recent bone marrow transplant, SGN-35 was something that they were looking at for him...so we've heard the name before, just have no info on it.

so im on a internet scavenger hunt for info :)

i've still been learning about the alkaline diet as well...and have decided i will change my kitchen into a alkaline friendly food place starting the 1st of March.  i will write more about that later.
......
this week a friend (who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer) lost her husband to lukemia. i feel really bad, because what do you say to someone who just lost their spouse?  i only know her online...but i'd like to send her something appropriate..any suggestions?

I'm afraid I don't have suggestions, but it's a lovely idea, and says a lot about the kind of person you are. :) 40% chance doesn't sound so good at first glance, but really, it is a promising number, isn't it? I wish you both the very best, and my heart absolutely goes out to Carol, too.

40% is a good number, especially if there are no serious side effects.

The alkaline diet sounds good - it will probably leave YOU feeling healthier too, which can only be a good thing :).

I've followed your blog for a while and have come to really care about you and Marcel's story. We all pray to the same God and you are both in my prayers.

Unfortunately no words are right. Just say, "I am here, in whatever way you need me, I am here." I am glad to hear that Marcel is getting the drug and am praying that does exceedingly well on them. Keeping you in my prayers too, for strength.

My sister has ALCL (lymphoma). Her cancer came back and grew and spread by the day. She barely got into the SGN-35 trial, had a collapsed lung, later blood clots in her lungs, and she was in severe pain. After 6 or so infusions, she is doing so much better. She has had no serious side effects except she still gets very tired at times. Her recent PET scan showed her cancer has diminished quite a bit and is gone in many areas, although she also has some areas of new growth. She has found that her lymphnodes swell really bad before the cancer goes away, so she is hoping those new areas are about to go away. She is very hopeful and positive. This is the only treatment option she has to keep her alive and so far so good. We are very grateful for the SGN-35 clinical trial or my sister would not be here today. I hope your husband responds very well to the treatment. Keep up the hope. Blessings to you and your family!

I've had a stem cell transplant and a bone marrow transplant for Hodgkins, and I am currently taking SGN-35, I was in a similar trap with immunosuppresants, but got thru. I would like to share any and all info with you. I am 30yr old male. You can email me if you like d.epark@yahoo.com

I'm sorry I'm responding so late. However, I do know that the Cleveland Clinic is going to do an SGN-35 trial very soon.

I have relapsed Hodgkin's and hope to participate in the trial early in 2011.

My brother is only 34 and is fighting non-hogkins large cell lymphoma for the 3rd time. they have put him on SGN-35 at UNMC in Omaha Nebraska. They are not doing the trial there but have high hopes it will work. I hope so he has been thru so much anyway what I wanted to say is his cancer Dr. Vose got the medicine it took her two months but she got it done even though Omaha is not part of trial. If your having hard time getting this medicine just ask your doctors to be more persistent

My husband just had his first treatment of SGN-35 and is doing well. He has battle cancer for 2 1/2 years without success. He has had all the chemo allowed and a stem cell transfer at Cleveland Clinic and is still full of cancer.
We are praying this is the answer we need.

I am in relapse too. I heard that parasites are a big cause of cancer. Some have said taking cloves, and walnut husk, among other things will kill lymphomas. Ipray this helps someone.

I am a 32 yea old male that was having a tough battle with hodgkins. I was sent to OHSU in Portland Or for an auto transplant in2010. It was not successful so I fell into a study for SGN35 within about 3 treatment I started to respond. After about 6months I receive a related allo transplant that was successful. 6 months after I was in complete remission. So there is hope don't every give up and stay strong!!!!
